Vicky Kaushal was born on 16th May 1988 in Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra in India to Sham Kaushal, a stuntman and a prominent action director in Hindi films. His father wanted him to have a stable career hence he pursued electronics and communications engineering at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology.
He soon decided to pursue a career in acting as an office job wouldn’t suit him. He went to acting school and worked as an assistant director to Anurag Kashyap in his epic two part Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). He soon debuted on screen in a small role in Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana (2012) and Bombay Velvet (2015).
