Nana Patekar was born Vishwanath Patekar on 1st January 1951 in Murud – Janjira in Maharashtra in India. He studied in Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Art in Mumbai.
Patekar went through a tough childhood. His father died of a heart attack when he was 28 and he married his wife Neelkanti when he was 27.
Patekar made his debut with Gaman in 1978 and since then has done a lot of roles, which have been very diverse from villain to the hero.
