Rathee makes informative videos on political, environmental and social issues in India, mostly about the fake news about different subjects that is propagated by the mainstream Indian media. He says that it is difficult to trust newspapers and TV channels in India now, so he makes videos with evidence and in depth explanation and discussion.
Rathee started following politics during Anna Hazare’s movement in 2011-12. He was hopeful that the BJP government which came in 2014 would change things. He initially started his Youtube channel to post vlogs about his travel since he was a photography and filmmaking enthusiast. After posting about these for some time in 2014, he posted a music video about the policies of the BJP government on which they backtracked on.
He made that video out of frustration, and it got him minor attention. He then became viral in 2016 when one of his videos debunking the claims of Ajay Sehrawat about the inefficiency of the Delhi government became very popular. It is then that Rathee decided to pursue becoming a news analyst and fact checker. He started to make more fact checking videos, all in Hindi because he felt that Hindi speakers were the one who fell prey to propaganda and lies online other than English speakers.
As Rathee got more success and clout online, he became bolder and started with new content like a satirical segment called Pee News with other Youtube bloggers like Akash Banerjee, with whom he now has a good working relationship. His video about the workings of the BJP IT Cell through an interview with an ex worker there cemented his position as one of the best fact checkers on Youtube.
