Azim Premji was born to Mohamed Hashem Premji on 24th July 1945 in Bombay under Bombay Presidency of British India (currently in Maharashtra). Hashem Premji ran the Western Indian Vegetable Products Ltd company under which they sold oil and laundry soap.
After the untimely death of his father in 1966, Premji left pursuing his Bachelors of Engineering at Stanford University and came home to take reigns of the company. He diversified the business into manufacturing baby products, toiletries, hydraulic cylinders and others.
